It all began while Lyle Green was helping his daughter write an essay on the presidents. When she asked him how many had been assassinated his first response was two. Yet, as they studied together they found that it was, in fact, four.

As a retired Air Force and Korean War veteran, Lyle considers himself a proud American. Because of this, he wondered what else he didn’t know about the presidents. He began an exhaustive, eight-month study, learning such facts as how many presidents died in office, how many vice-presidents inherited the presidential office and how many presidents who also had a son elected to the presidency.

Lyle not only became more and more fascinated as his knowledge grew, but realized he wanted to share it with others. His first poster, which he created during the Carter Administration, simply depicted each president with a few facts about their presidency. Yet, as each new president was elected Lyle added more facts about U.S. history. These include: the progression of the American flag; each branch of the military; state flags as well as the order in which each state joined the Union; and denominations of U.S. currency.

Lyle has received many accolades for his poster, including commendation letters from Presidents Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush. His poster hangs in schools, veterans’ halls and private offices across the nation. Teachers, students and history lovers are continually fascinated by the amount of facts it contains. In fact, one teacher told Lyle that the information contained on the poster covers four history books.
